Matt’s an award-winning French horn player with many years of experience improvising a wide variety of musical styles. Listen to selections ranging from classical to jazz as well as original compositions and arrangements for French horn. Check below for upcoming live performances and new content released here.
Matt has led several jazz combos at clubs and other venues in the Seattle area, such as the Seattle Jazz Fellowship, The Royal Room, Couth Buzzard Cafe and North City Bistro. He's performed as a contributing artist at the 2024 International Horn Symposium and as a regional artist at the Northwest Horn Symposium in 2018, 2023 and 2025. He's appeared with such varied groups as the Scratch Cats, Jazz Night School combos and big bands, the Northwest Swing Band, Dorkestra and the Indie avant-garde band, God Knows Who. His original compositions and arrangements have been performed in jazz clubs, regional and international French horn conferences, and by college horn ensembles. He also conducts jazz workshops, like the one hosted by Mars Gelfo in November, 2024.
He currently performs with the Northwest Symphony Orchestra and has appeared with the Lake Union Civic Orchestra, the Eugene Symphony and Eugene Opera orchestras, Federal Way Philharmonic, Bellevue Symphony and Pacific Symphony. He was also a member of the Washington Brass Ensemble and the Burton Brass Quintet. He has also appeared with the Birmingham Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra, Southern Great Lakes Symphony, the Adrian Symphony and the Michigan Philharmonic Orchestra.
